The Seven Principles of Spiritualism

This document has been reproduced with the permission of the Education Committee of the Spiritualist National Union

Unlike most other major religions, Spiritualism does not tie its adherents to a creed or dogma. Rather, the philosophy of Spiritualism is founded upon seven basic principles which were developed and derived through the mediumship of one of Spiritualism’s greatest pioneers, Emma Hardinge Britten, inspired in 1871 by the communicating spirit of Robert Owen (the founder, when alive in the physical body, of the Co-operative movement).

These Seven Principles, which act as guidelines for the development of a personal philosophy of how to live one’s life, are stated as follows:-

The Fatherhood of God

The Brotherhood of Man

The Communion of Spirits and the Ministry of Angels

The continuous existence of the human soul

Personal responsibility

Compensation and retribution hereafter for all the good and evil deeds done on earth

Eternal progress open to every human soul

Student Readings

Students of the Tarot Certification course often have practice sessions and have to read for their exams in the chat rooms- come along and grab a reading from our students.

Want your own reading or class room?

If you are a teacher or reader and would like your own chat room on site, come into chat and speak to Polgara who will organise a chat room for you.  You may use your room to give classes or readings on any subject that is within the area of spirituality.  Don't worry if someone is also teaching the same classes as it is always good for students to learn different methods.  You can link to the chat rooms from your own website (Polgara will give you the code).
