Hello everybody,

I'd like to start off a discussion topic about the many challenges a medium faces throughout their development and subsequent service work for spirit.

I think we all agree that this ISN'T an easy path to follow, even the early development years require oodles of patience - some days you may fly like an eagle, you can commune with your guides and Angels with relative ease, then for weeks, even months after, you may feel about as psychic as a wet lettuce...

As your awareness and sensitivity increase, this also brings its own challenges - add into this working with the general public and the steady stream of non believers. You have to become the contradiction between developing a thick skin, (or is that detachment LOL) whilst remaining hyper sensitive...

Is there anybody reading this who has pursued development, only to give up on it, once they realised the realities of following such a path..? Is there life after mediumship?

I would love to hear others experiences and some of the challenges they have faced and hopefully overcome.

I understand what you mean. I'm a pretty new developer and get so frustrated at the slowness of the spirit world.
I just seem to be getting somewhere then Wham! Everything stops.

Hi Danny,

No it is not an easy path, some people fear your gift & become intimidated by you, some people will actually say to me that they find my energy really strong & hence find it intimidating, an odd one considering I am only a small petite thing.

Other people want you to tell them there life story & can cling to you for just the that reason, I do not do fortune telling & people do not get that, some think we are here to tell them what path to take, bounderies are one of the lessons i am learning with the journey.

Having to accept yourself & your gift is the biggest challenge, as once you sign the contract, you are not just dealing with this world but many other dimensions. Once you accept yourself & your gift you see the world with a different pair of eyes & that is the beautiful joy of becoming a medium, i also believe we will be constantly in school with it all.

I do trance healing mediumship & speak in tongues when i do this, but when i do my healing my guide or guides will be very philosophical & i do not remember what i am saying to the person, so they come out of the healing session and will ask me what they mean on some occassions, so i then have to sit there with spirit & ask them what they are trying to say in our english terms lol, so now when i do a healing session i just tell the person if they are not sure of what spirit are saying ask them again, really i believe we will be learning how to use this gift for the rest of our lives as I am constantly learning something new from spirit.

Meditation will enhance your gift & help balance the emotions that we go through with being so sensitive of the surroundings. Or you could join a circle or spiritual church, when you are around like minded people it hightens your awareness as your energy blends together & you may see more. For me meditation is the way forward, it helps me with all sorts of stuff. I have not been trained with my work apart from a weekend workshop, but I am off to stanstead College in July for a weeks course, there are many great teachers out there that can help you & i hear standstead is the best in the world.

It's so nice to meet you, and thanks for taking the time to respond to my post.

I read with interest that you speak in tongues whilst working in trance - may I ask what your take is on this phenomena? I understand the concept, but am unclear as to its origins. I have even done so myself, whilst deep in meditation - to the casual observer, it could appear to be talking gibberish, however, it was perfectly structured and felt like it was high vibrational communication.

To answer your question on 'giving up' development. I have given up so many times its laughable. But, I'm always dragged back into it and I always start anew - heaven knows why cause I swear I am the worst medium on earth!! .

I would say to those who have difficulty with their development to give themselves a break and stop beating up on themselves when things don't progress as fast as they 'think' they should. I know its difficult to be patient and we all want instant progress but as I've discovered it simply doesn't happen that way.

If you want results you have to work at your development. In today's world of instant results, working for something isn't what we are inclined to do, yet we still expect results.

I've lost count of the people I've spoken to who are disgruntled with their lack of progress but when you ask what they have done to further their development it's a case of erm, ahh, well actually ....

It is lovely to be introduced to you also.. Trance healing, how do i do it, i do not know. I will tell you how it began though, so here is my story.

I was lying in bed one night & my hands started doing strange things above my aura, almost a healing technique i think you could call it & i started speaking in a strange language, if i try to do it, forget it, it either happens or it doesnt, so i stopped myself & thought to myself hang on what is this all about & do i feel safe. I did, so i let it continue, as i was doing it i was also pulling things you could say out of the heart chakra and sacral chakra & my voice was yes you are right babbling on in a very gentle language of what sounded like Italian but it she (Anne) was using similar words, almost like a prayer, once it finished lasted about 15minutes i guess, who knows I saw seven of my past lives flash between my eyes, (clairvoyance). From there when i do healing, I am a Reiki Healer, i started noticing that i was whispering the same language & words & pulling things out of the aura, holding them in my hands, lifting my hands up into the air and blowing into them.

From there i started to speak the language whilst driving or sometimes when i was in an emotionally unbalanced mood, i guess you could say she was telling me off as they do at times or trying to calm me. You will get a feeling in the throat chakra & want to almost cough when it first opens up to spirit communication, a clearing of the throat chakra.

Now i understand what it is all about, before i do a healing session i get into a stance, put my hands in the air in a prayer and crack as such my hands together to open the crown chakra. From there, i know when i am being overshadowed as i start to spin alittle & can feel her energy & then i can be semi aware, or not aware at all, when i come back it takes me a few seconds to adjust myself. It almost feels like i am in the room but at a distance, and as i said sometimes i hear what goes on sometimes i don't. That is it really, i have done a trance meditation with someone & that was pretty darn scary to be honest with you & all i heard was my heartbeat, i was overshadowed by a very strong guide who spoke through me & told us both off. lol..

The reason why i seem to have an understanding of it being latin italian is a friend of mine speaks italian & seen has caught a word or two & said that it sounds like old italian but very very old italian, i will have to tape record it and by some books on the language. I have now gotten more comfortable with her, and each time is very different, she will now talk to the person using very philosphical wording & it is like she is almost praying to remove the energy of the negative thought process. People say she is very gentle when she talks & for me her energy is a blessing. & Yes you are right it is a very high vibrational energy.

Giving up lol, i wish you luck with giving up if you are to be a true channeled medium, as there is no giving up. If you do not pay them any attention, they will find ways to make you stand up and notice as they did with me & believe me it was a harsh lesson to learn. My advice is if you really do believe you have a true gift, read do some research on it all, this site is a great start & do yourself a favor pay them some attention.

Hear for you if you need any further advice, but i do not and will not claim to know it all, i can only go with my own experiences & they change on a daily basis..

I also don't believe that you're a poor medium, either.

I'm sorry that I can't shed any more light on the communicator/guide...'CERT' formula and all that. LOL (on reflection, maybe that message was for both of us. )

I actually wrote the post: "Challenges staying on the path", some months ago. At the time I was suffering from some heavy duty doubt about my own abilities, which is something I've been plagued with all my life. I hope that one day I can conquer this self doubt and fulfill my potential (whatever it happens to be) in this area...

I read with interest your comment on spirit clearing your throat chakra and registering it as though you wanted to cough. I had never thought of it this way before. I just thought of it as being a lower energy coming through; by lower energy, I just mean, not a high vibrational guide.

Trance work used to figure quite early on in my own development, but it's not something that has flourished into anything of note, at this stage anyway. Thanks for sharing your experiences with me/us.

Beg's the question: I wonder if there's such a thing as an optician in the spirit world, 'cause they surely need their eyes testing !!

Me thinks theres sommat up with the forum statistics.. last post says im a visitor and the one previous to that says ive only made three posts.
