i to would be interested in doing the excercise, i think it helps all students to realize they are truly communicating with spirit and not just their imagination as sometimes students and beginers tend to think that way, as i did to early on in my development.

when i sat in development circle i was taught to work with a format know as C E R T meaning identify the communicator, ie description of the person how they passed names etc., evidence of who the they were/are information only know between sitter and communicator (SPIRIT PERSON) ,EVIDENCE , RECOGNITION BY THE SITTER OF WHO WAS COMMUNICATING AND TIE up the message, ie what the spirit people have come to say .

i have always worked like this and i think it raises the standard of mediumship however thank you Idano for telling me it was called advanced mediumship i didnt know that, i just thought everyone had to adhere to this format in order to achieve a high standard of mediumship which is what all mediums should be aiming for.

I have my reservations - I dont have a quiet mind at all and am the kind who used to try visualisation at online sites, but my mind adds all sorts of weird stuff because the picture gets too slow for me.

This thread seems to be concentrating on mediumship, but anyway - thanks. This should be fun, straight past all the messing about with trains and trees and beaches and straight to is anybody there, so I am kind of looking forward.

Anyone else up for playing? Any more ideas?

This isnt really all about me, I was just hoping some of the answers would be practical steps, so I appreciate this.

mmmm CERT !! yeh well ...

I was a medium way, way before I knew what the word medium meant .. I saw my gran at her own funeral when I was 4 and until I was in my teens thought that everyone could see members of their own family who had 'died'. I never saw it as anything special, in fact I thought it was just 'psychic' stuff - a laugh - you know !!

So from a small child till I was 38 I thought I was a psychic - I read tarot, saw spirit, just knew things about people - all very, very natural.

At 38 I owned a pub and you can imagine the amount of people I came into daily contact with - and all their relatives in spirit. At the time I thought I was becoming totally mad because I simply could not get rid of all the spirits - had no idea what was happening to me and it didn't help that the pub had a few resident spirits!

Then, I found an internet site (shan't mention which one cause I hate it). These were the first people I had found who had the same abiltiies as me and so they had a profound and deep effect on me. I'll never forget the first time I went in there and Apollo from Soul Searchers explained to me what a medium was and what was happening to me. I love that man to this day - he saved me from beleiving I was going insane. (kisses for huggy bear xx)

Anyway, I joined the classes, paid out good money, and was shouted and screamed at and ridiculed by the teachers. I was told that all the information I got was total rubbish! Why? Because they would accept absolutely nothing unless it complied with CERT.

Because I got the message first and the details of the person giving the message last, it was unacceptable to the teachers there.

Now I agree CERT can be a good teaching tool if used in the right way, but all it did for me was stifle my mediumship and my faith in my own abilities. I am now 45 and I still get nervous as hell in case I'm not sticking to CERT!! I cannot even pick up the tarot cards to read for someone without totally trembling in case I'm not sticking to the rules!

So CERT took me a step backwards - a very big step backwards and I feel destroyed what was for me a very natural ability. So please anyone out there using it as a teaching tool - please don't make it the be all and end all. Allow mediumship abilities to unfold naturally - as they should!

One of the reasons I teach now is to ensure that no one who ever crosses my path will ever be treated the way I was and will not be afraid to let their abilties flow naturally.

that would be a brill idea especially for those of us who feel we are on our own with no church or centre to go to.

I am so sorry that you experienced such a negative time with your training... there must ge a gift there somewhere :roll:

I am untrained by people - fully trained by spirit and man are they hard task masters!

My first response to the question for todays discussion was...

Meditate, Meditate, Meditate! Clear your chakra's daily and meditate. Laugh lots! The higher our vibration the easier it is to receive clear guidance and coomunication and LAUGHTER is the best , yummiest and easiest way to raise it!!!!

In terms of CERT. I only heard about it from the posts on this thread. I can see that as a general guide it could be a valuable tool but as has been said - your relationship with spirit and the way you communicate with each other is unique to you. The way we communicate to others the messages we receive is also unique.

Each of us has our own talents and gifts to bring. We reach the people we are meant to reach - there is no question there. If we were all the same then life would be terribly boring.

I have been through a situation where I was told that what I knew to be right for me was wrong... and like you I was not just told, it was drummed into me. The gift I took from the experience is the gift of trusting myself. It took a while to receive the message but indeed - I now know that I am who I am and my gifts are perfect and unique to me. I reach some people, those who follow CERT reach others - we are all teachers and students and perfect as we are!
